The cheeseburger pie that you made is indeed from a Bisquick cookbook. It was/is called Impossible Cheeseburger Pie. I remember my Dad and I making this back in the early 1970's. It has always been one of my favorites. Thank you for bringing it back to newer generations......my Granddaughter and I are going to make it this weekend.

I make what I call Spicy Glorified Beans that is similar to your Aunt Cathy's Beans. In mine I put
1 lb hot breakfast sausage browned. Do not drain the excess grease. It helps flavor the beans.
    1 diced onion
    2 cans pork and beans
    1 cup ketchup
    1 Tbsp Worchestershire Sauce
    1 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
    1/2 cup of brown sugar
Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
The sausage gives the beans a little bit of spice. They are so good.

I didn’t have Tater tots so I ended up using hashbrowns and it still came out great. Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe

I make a casserole very similar to that, and I put the tater tots on top. I use those little round crispy crowns, and they do get nice and crispy. Once the tots are crispy and the casserole is cooked through, I take it out of the oven and cover the top with cheese -- then put it back into the oven for about 5 or 10 minutes to get the cheese all melted. I still put some shredded cheddar cheese in the casserole, but I don't use the can of cheese soup, instead I use a can of cream of mushroom soup, and a can of green beans, drained.

Your "Cheeseburger in Paradise" used to be on Bisquick boxes in the '80s. It was called "Impossible cheeseburger pie". There were a lot of "impossible pie" recipes on those bisquick boxes (brownie, lasagna, taco....etc) there was also a crustless quiche recipe which was wonderful too! At one point they had an entire cookbook of all their "impossible pies"

Mel, another wonderful video from you just makes the perfect ending to a Sunday! These all look like soul nurturing and comforting meals. For all of us who know that a hot delicious meal, shared with those we cherish most, is like big hug and love from a mama or grandma!
Your precious channel is such a nice break from a world where things can seem pretty tough now. God bless you and your fabulous family!

I have the cornbread sloppy Joe recipe in the oven right now , my house smells amazing . It’s a cold day where I live today on the west coast and I can’t wait for it to come out of the oven . Going to make the lasagna soup this weekend as our weather will still be cold , cold for us is in the high 40’s to low 50’s I know that’s not cold for a lot of you but it’s cold for us , I’m so excited for all the new recipes to try , thank you 🙏🏻

I buy the big bag of onions and chop up about half the bag to go into freezer bags.. same with bell peppers.. great time saver! Plus, I use a large freezer bag for my veggie scraps, to use in making broth or stock.. ❤

It's noon on Monday and I want to start dinner already! I love that you suggest sides and show your beautiful food all plated up with companions. I'm always thinking, "Well, that looks really good, but what am I gonna have WITH it?" It sure helps with the grocery shopping! Thanks for taking the time and energy to do these videos. They're a blessing!

I really liked all these recipes Mel. I have never made a tater tot casserole with potato tots mixed in we'll have to try this I make one similar but I put the hamburger on the bottom and then put the tater tots on top and they get nice and toasty that way. I was thinking about yours and the way you make it and I was thinking maybe you could put half of your tater tots in the casserole and put some of them on the top so you make sure your tater tots get nice and toasty don't know just a thought. Always enjoy your especially Sunday night
  • Beth Deck
You have saved me telling me about frozen onions!!! They are wonderful along with the frozen green peppers. We are only 2 now and I don’t like waste! Thank you. Love all your recipes! Blessings to you and yours,❤

Mel, the the sloppy joe meal seemed wonderful. I don't know if you've ever seen the brand name Hargisl house, but, it is even better than Manwich. If you ever see it give it a try. This was truly a wonderful video. We even have the same casserole dish that you used for the beans.
